Natural range: Southern U.S.

Habitat:  Riverbanks and other disturbed wet sites

Florida status:  Native?

Recognition:  Small (10-30 cm) stoloniferous plant.  Spikelets (3.5-5 mm) partially embedded in 1 side of the branch axis.

Note:  S. secundatum is planted for turf in the southern US.  Numerous cultivars have been developed.
