Habitat:  Disturbed places

Florida status:  Introduced weed.  uncommon in our area, if present at all

Recognition:  Spikelets in fascicles surrounded by bristles longer than the spikelets, some of the bristles fused into spines reminiscent of those in Cenchrus (but surrounded with long bristles).   Spines with antrorse barbs.
