Oplismenus

Oplismenus hirtellus (L.) P. Beauv.

Natural range:  Southern U.S. to South America

Habitat:  Moist shaded places, hammocks

Recognition:   Shade-loving, ground-hugging, broad-leaved grass.  Awned spikelets in widely separated clusters (or on short scattered side branches) along the main axis.

Florida status:  Native, common in its moist shaded habitat.
