Recognition: To 2 m tall. Sheaths and adaxial leaf blades tending to be villous. Spikelets 2.9-4.1 mm. Glume 5-veined.

Paspalum praecox similar but leaves conduplicate (folded, vs. flattened). Spikelets 2.1-3.1 mm, flattened. Glume 3-veined.
