Paspalum conjugatum P. J. Bergius
Natural range: Old World and New World, original distribution unclear
Habitat: Weedy, especially in moist shaded sites
Florida status: Probably native?
Recognition: Inflorescences particularly long and thin with two even spikes. Spikelets to 1.3 mm long, with long silky threads. (P. blodgettii has similar-sized small spikelets, but they are obovate and merely pubescent, not with silky hairs.)
Similar species include Axonopus fissifolius and Digitaria longiflora. Both have boat-shaped or shoe-shaped acute-tipped (vs. elliptic-orbicular with obtuse or rounded apex) spikelets, and D. longiflora differs from Axonopus by having pubescent spikelets.
