Natural range: New England to Mexico, mostly coastal, with scattered adventive occurrences elsewhere
Habitat: Usually on beach sand or on seaside dunes. May also be in inland moist habitats.
Florida status: Native
Recognition: Large, coarse, beach-dwelling Panicum. Lower glume extremely long for a Panicum in our area (> 2.8 mm long).
