Echinochloa crus-galli (L.) Beauv.

Natural range: Widespread from Canada to Mexico, and in the Old World. Possibly of Old World origins and spread adventively.

Habitat: Moist habitats

Florida status: Probably not native

Recognition: Large, coarse grass. Sheaths hirsute or hispid to glabrous. Awns highly variable, sometimes to 50 mm long. Fertile lemma with ring or tuft of trichomes near the tip, which tends to wither.
