Recognition: Tall Digitaria (ca. 1 m), the bushy inflorescence with numerous branches arising at different levels. (Superficially reminiscent of an Andropogon.) Spikelets very silky. Lower glume minute; upper glume about as long as the spikelet. Spikelet 4.2 mm – 5.9 mm. Upper lemma brown (vs. light colored in D. ciliaris). Ligule a membrane 5 mm long, lost among long white hairs.
