Natural range: Old World Tropics, escaped across most of the U.S., including Florida

Habitat: Turf species, escaped and weedy

Recognition: Narrow-bladed strongly rhizomatous turfgrass with a characteristic inflorescence: the spikes radiating from one point. The spikes smaller in diameter (1 mm) than most of the other grasses with radiating spikes.

Florida status: Escaped, weedy turfgrass. This is an important cultivated species available in many cultivars.
