Recognition: Leaves mostly < 3 mm wide, glabrous. Ligule to 0.2-0.6 mm (over 0.5 mm in C. spinifex). Spikelets 1-3 mm. Burr rounded basally, with spines in one whorl, glabrous or nearly so, the inner bristles 3.2-6 mm. Burrs not crowded, not nestled down into leaf sheath, 3.5 mm in diameter (wider in C. spinifex).
