Natural range:   Southeastern U.S. (also presumably adventively in Pacific Northwest) to Mesoamerica

Habitat:  Various disturbed sites, including saline places; in our experience, on shores or edges of wet sites

Florida status:  Native, occasional

Recognition:  Inflorescence branches 8-24; lower lemma glabrous
