Eragrostis pectinacea (Michx.) Nees

Natural range:  Canada to South America

Habitat:  Weedy

Recognition:  Plants glabrous.  Leaves very narrow, stiff, pointy, flat.  Inflorescence < 15 cm wide, the branch bases glabrous or only sparsely pilose.  Spikelets appressed, longer than the pedicels, ca. 5-8 mm with 6-22 florets.  Lower glume ca.0.5-1.5 mm; supper glume a little longer. Can be confused with E. pilosa but E. pectinacea doesn’t have hairs at the base of the primary inflorescence branches.  Similar to E. atrovirens, but in this species the leaf blades have wooly hairs on the upper surface. Acropetal. Anthers 3.

Florida status: Native
