Digitaria ciliaris (Retz.) Koel.

Natural range:  Very widespread, especially common in the Southeastern U.S.

Habitat: Ruderal

Florida status:  Native. Weedy, widespread, abundant, the most frequently encountered Digitaria

Recognition:  Stolinferous.  Panicles with < 9 branches (D. insularis has more).  Spikelets 3 mm long.  Lower glume 0.2-0.8 mm; upper glume 2/3 the length of the spikelet. Lower lemma with the veins crowded near the margin, the marginal hairs < 1 mm (vs. D. bicornis where the marginal bristles are pectinate and over 1 mm long).
