Shrubby scrub plant with tough alternate leaves and white to pinkish or light lavender daisy-type flowering heads

 

2. Florida Rosemary

Ceratiola ericoides

Looks like a little conifer

 

3.  Gopher-Apple

Licania michauxii

One-foot tall plants on sand.  Leathery glossy elliptic leaves 3" long, the flower white

 

4. Honeycomb Heads

Balduina angustifolia

Yellow-flowered scrub "daisy."  The fruiting heads look like honeycombs.

 

5. Tread Softly

Cnidosculus stimulans

6. Wild Lantana

Lantana involucrata

Shrub with fragrant opposite fuzzy leaves, the pale lavender flowers in dense heads

 

7. Pinweed

Lechea cernua

On the scrub sand.  Itsy bitsy leaves, the flowers/fruits look like little pin heads.

 

8.  Silkgrass

Pityopsis graminifolia

Silky linear leaves.  Flowers yellow.

 

9.  Running Oak

Quercus minima

Six-inch tall oak with flat, lobed leaves

 

10.  October Flower

Polygonella polygama

There are about three species of Polygonella in this natural area---they are similar, but this has oblanceolate leaves that look like a canoe paddle. Flowers look like white (to light pink) lace. Tall Jointweed (Polygonella gracilis) loses its leaves.
