Recognition:  Leaf blades wide, ciliate-margined.  Spikelets 3.5-5 mm long; upper glume with glabrous margins, 5-7-veined.  Inflorescence often nearly Y-shaped, sometimes with a branch below the Y or making a third branch to the Y.
